I just unsubscribed from something called The Jewish Magazine. I’ve been getting their e-mail for some time, although I have no idea how they got my e-mail address. I get several of these things. Mostly I skim them, sometimes I’ll read an article if it catches my eye.

Well, this one caught my eye — big time. The title of the link was “Jewish Racism: Is it superior to the racism of the gentiles?” The subtitle was “Is there a real Master Race?” The author’s answers were “yes” and “yes,” with the “Master Race” being the Jews. Sadly, this isn’t the first time I’ve run across this assertion, and it has always revolted me. There are certain groups of Jews who believe that if you aren’t one of them, you aren’t a Jew; and if you aren’t a Jew, you’re less than human.

Granted, this magazine is really one big OpEd compilation with no staff writers; and they welcome submissions on any subject related to Judaism. There are jokes, historical observations, articles on the impact of the Internet on Orthodox Judaism, and other things that might actually be interesting if I had time to read them. (I don’t.) It’s rather like WordPress in that regard.

My wife accuses me of being intolerant of other people’s views because there are some things I just can’t stomach (Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh); but this article turned my stomach, and so I “un-followed” this publication. I’ll get my smorgasbord of opinions somewhere else. It that makes me intolerant, then sobeit. I don’t like dill, either, and that’s my privilege.
