That’s the title of an opinion piece by E. J. Dionne. As you might expect from the title, he is asking whether or not there can be a discussion of our fundamental problems and possible solutions, rather than the constant repetition of uncompromising party positions. Most of his column was, to the best of my ability to judge impartially, rather balanced; but being the lefty that he is, he couldn’t resist the following dig:
